No three-cueing. Explicit, systematic, cumulative.
How the checker works
Every word, checked against what you've taught.
- 1. Pick the pattern. Say your group is on short a (CVC).
- 2. Heart words are underlined. "the" can't be sounded out yet, but it's been taught, so it's allowed and marked.
- 3. Untaught words are flagged. "cake" needs silent-e, which this group hasn't learned. The checker catches it, every time, without AI guessing.
- 4. Swap in one click. Replace a flagged word with a decodable one and watch the score climb.
